Explore the roots of storytelling

Welcome!

I'm Tamara de Bruin

I am currently obtaining my Research Master in History at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. Here I specialise in Middle English and Early Middle Scots literature. In my research I investigate the interplay between politics, poetics, and (imagined) identities.

I am involved in various university projects, including Monstrum, an educational boardgame about medieval animals.

In my spare time I love to read, illustrate, and narrate the wonderful tales I come across.

Feel free to look around or have a listen!

Current projects

Can you free all animals from the Book of Beasts in time? The cooperative board game Monstrum created by Sven Gins you are invited to explore the medieval animal kingdom from an ecocentric perspective. Play around with historical ideas about animals and discover their abiding relevance for present challenges, such as biodiversity decline and the marginalisation of human minorities.
